Jenbach is the only station in Austria hosting tracks of 3 different
gauges. Two narrow gauge railways meet here the standard gauge
international main line Unterinntalbahn:
Achenseebahn, the metre gauge cog
railway, and the 760 mm gauge Zillertalbahn.
Parallel to the Unterinntalbahn, a new high speed railway line is
being built. Its first 40 km long section (Hall in Tirol
– Jenbach
– Kundl) will be ready in 2012. The maximum
speed allowed on the new line will be 250 km/h.

Because of a lack of locomotives, Zillertalbahn hired a diesel
locomotive from StLB. The loco VL 23 circulated from 1999 until 2003 on
the tyrolian narrow gauge railway. It was originally in service on the
narrow gauge network of the Yugoslavian State Railways (JŽ) as 740-024.
Another class 740 was acquired by Zillertalbahn as well: 740-007 has
been in service there since 1982 as D10.
