At Liestal station trains from Waldenburg share a common platform with the standard-gauge trains running to Basel. The 750-mm-gauge track runs parallel to the main line 500 Basel - Olten for a while.
Altmarkt
At Altmarkt station the narrow-gauge railway finally leaves the main line. Its route turns south into the valley of the Frenke stream.
Bad Bubendorf
The sun sets earl between the hills at the end of December. The last sunrays just reach the trains running near Bubendorf.

Despite of its 750 mm gauge, the Waldenburgerbahn is not a touristic railway, it is part of Basel's suburban transport network. The small trains run every 15 minutes during the rush hours on the 13 km long line and reach an amazing speed: they race between the villages up to 75 km/h fast.
The Waldenburg Railway belongs to Baselland Transport (BLT) since 2016, the company operating suburban tram lines among others. Liestal railway station will be rebuilt in 2022. In order to take advantage of the resulting interruption, the tracks of the Waldenburgerbahn will be rebuilt to 1000 mm gauge in the same year. Simultaneously new, 20 cm wider, thus 2400 mm wide vehicles are to be procured.
Oberdorf Winkelweg
Motor car 17 arrives from Liestal. BDe 4/4 12 has recently left the depot of Waldenburg in order to assist in the afternoon peak period.

Waldenburg Station
Push-pull trains at the terminus. Motor car 14 has just departed with its both control cars to Liestal. Soon the unit 12 will be also put into circulation in the afternoon rush hour.
